“Hardly anyone use this neglected, humble fruit called vilumbipuli (a.k.a. bilimbi) in large quantities because it is so sour. While trying to balance out that sourness, I discovered a pickle that goes great with meat. Every time I make it, I brings to my mind my grandmother big pickle jars brimming with this all-time favourite of mine.”

    The tart yet sweet “billimbi” set with a beautiful mix of spices is supreme with a bowl of curd rice.

    If you could only have one of Sheila’s pickles, the vilumbi puli is the one to pick! Love to pair it with traditional Kerala food though I’m also known to eat it straight out if the jar. It is undoubtedly one of the best pickles I’ve had!
